Sedation Dentistry
Conscious Sedation Dentistry
Many people have a good reason for dental anxiety and you may be one of them or know someone who is. Dental anxiety or fear may come from a bad experience as a child or a past dental visit. Others simply find dental procedures uncomfortable and intimidating. We understand that anxiety and offer a solution called Conscious Sedation Dentistry.
How it Works
During an initial consultation with Dr. Leach, you will find out how conscious sedation works and how it will be used to your benefit. Each case is different and the sessions need to be tailored for you. In some cases, sedation may be used for diagnosis and cleaning. It may also be used to assist in your comfort during special procedures.

Before Your Appointment
Before your first appointment you will take a medication the night before your visit. You will need someone to transport you to and from the office safely.
During Your Appointment
When you arrive for your appointment you will be awake and perhaps drowsy. Most important, you will be relaxed and anxiety-free. While you are in the chair, the conscious sedation team will administer additional medication to begin your sedation. You will be monitored very closely at all times. You won’t be unconscious; you will be able to aid in your treatment if necessary. We are capable of regulating the level of your sedation and the length of your sedation according to your needs during the appointment.
Generally, when you are sedated, you will be in a deeply relaxed state and unaware of the treatment, but able to safely respond to us if encouraged. The next thing you will know, your procedure is complete and it is time to go home.
After Your Appointment
You will have virtually no memory of your visit. You will never be left unattended by our highly trained staff. You will experience a comfortable soothing mental and emotional separation from the treatment.
We think sedation dentistry will be a good addition to the practice, making general treatment available to those who have avoided treatment for a variety of reasons. Also for those who are in need, it opens the door to a higher level of comfort for implants, oral surgery and root canals.
